We organise occasional courses facilitated by external professional artists these are open to everyone but are made available to members at a significantly reduced cost. More experienced members of the group run occasional courses/tuition for members at no cost.

    Anne Ware 4 week Watercolour Course

    Thursdays – 17 April,1 May, 15 May, and 29 May 10am – 4pm

     

    April 17th:  Refresher Day – Importance of having the right materials. Demo of how to lay a smooth wash with one colour, then multi-colours and the application to either a calm sunset scene and/or calm water scene (includes wet in wet, wet on dry techniques, use of wash brushes). Use of mask for reserving whites.

    May 1st: Composition and Perspective – General principles of composition and design (not specific to watercolour), application to three possible scenes (one point, two point or three point perspective) – Scenes will be provided for participants to choose from or you can bring your own photographic reference. Importance of thumbnail sketches.

    May 15th: Watercolour Pigment Focus – Transparent, granulating, opaque pigments – when and how to use them, quality of pigments, how you make mud, how you glaze, how to keep your colours pure. Application to two differing scenes provided or your own reference.

    May 29th: Imagination in Watercolour Painting and why it’s Important if you want to take your painting further – Branching out into abstract painting, review of less obvious watercolour techniques, use of mixed media (acrylics, pastels, simple printing techniques)

     

    Cost:- Non members £50 per workshop or £180 for all 4 workshops. Members £25 per workshop or £90 for all 4 workshops.

    NORTH DEVON DISTRICT HOSPITAL : 17th FEBRUARY – 16th APRIL

    Pilton Arts Group are exhibiting an exciting selection of paintings at the North Devon District Hospital in the corridor leading to the X Ray department.

    We are showing off our diverse and exciting styles of work in oils, watercolours and pastels, all beautifully framed (and for sale).

     

    ARLINGTON COURT : 23rd APRIL – 30th APRIL

    We are delighted to have been invited back by our friends at Arlington to help celebrate ‘Arlington in Bloom’.

    We will be exhibiting a wide variety of our work in the Activity Room with a special emphasis on the vibrancy of Spring with a display of paintings in all mediums, including some unique mixed media…all within the beautiful backdrop of Arlington Court.

    Pop in and see us, browse our paintings and perhaps buy one (or two!).
