COURSES & EVENTS
We organise occasional courses facilitated by external professional artists these are open to everyone but are made available to members at a significantly reduced cost. More experienced members of the group run occasional courses/tuition for members at no cost.

“Introduction to Oils” workshop
Wednesday 11th November. 10 am until to 3 pm.

A small contribution if £10 is payable upon booking in order to secure your place.
This workshop is aimed at complete beginners and those with some experience but who would like to know a bit more about the theory and practice of oil panting. We will not be trying to produce a finished oil painting but rather we will go through a serious of exercises aimed at giving participants a thorough understanding of this versatile medium and the confidence to produce their own paintings.

Monday 9th Feb: Creating Atmosphere and Mood – wet in wet, lifting off
Monday 23rd Feb: Marine/Seascape: sea, boats, seaweed, rocks, wet sand, reflections, foam
Monday 9th Mar: Portraits and People (clothed) Watercolour portraits; (edges, colour mixes, glazing). People; proportions, light direction, bleeding the head into body, scale
Monday 23rd Mar: Turn a plein-air sketch into a painting. We’ll go outside for 30 minutes and do some quick sketches to convert into two paintings in the studio.
Cost
Members:– £25 per individual workshop or £90 for all 4 workshops.
